Cocktail Wedding Receptions
Cocktail wedding receptions are all the trend these days with modern brides. Cocktail receptions may be held at a myriad of venues including museums, old mansions, outdoor gardens or hotel rooftops. When you have been invited to cocktail receptions get ready to mingle. Cocktail receptions are a great way to casually meet everyone who makes up the new family without all the fuss of a traditional wedding held in a hall.
When you have been invited to cocktail receptions the first thing you may freak out about is what to wear. However, as any stylish girl knows the little black dress is always a hit. If your mother once told you not to wear black to a wedding that advice flies out the window at a cocktail party reception. You can still wear your black dress, but add splashes of color in your jewelry, a scarf or flowers in your hair. A popular trend at the moment would be to add cute tights under your dress if you can pull this off and not look too Cyndi Lauper. Keep your look simple as cocktail receptions are not formal sit down things and the air of a cocktail party is fun and not fuss.
A good idea if you are attending a cocktail party reception is you should go out for food. Cocktail receptions are big on wine and specialty drinks and music but little else. If you are a lightweight when it comes to alcohol it is a great idea to treat yourself to a big lunch before the wedding ceremony. If you can not go out to lunch then perhaps you can swing through a fast food line on your way to the reception. When getting fast food just keep the food in your mouth and don’t let any get on your new little black dress.
Cocktail receptions can be great conversation starters based on the venue it is held at. If you are at a museum a great opening line is to ask what another person thinks is going on in the head of the painter. If you are not as good at schmoozing with strangers then before you don your dress and head out to those cocktail receptions call a close friends and spend a night on the town. This will be a great bonding experience for the two of you and it will help you build your skills.
