Seating Plans

When planning your wedding reception you will have to work out seating plans. Seating plans are the basics of where your guests sit and who they sit next to. Take your time with your seating plans as they will affect the entire flow of a wedding. Top table seating plans are ones that not only make people feel comfortable but also keep the conversation going.

When you sit down and gaze at the seat planner in front of you as your blank canvas do not just jot down names based on who is in whose family. You may get a lot of opposition on this, but, seating plans can put strangers next to each other and tables can break up families. If you want your mom to get to know your fiancées uncle then sit them at the same table. The parents of the couple may have just spent four or six months getting to know each other. No fair putting them all at the same table so they do not get to know anyone else. If you think that your’ Aunt and Uncle Joe would get along great with your best friends parents do that. However, if you think their young daughter Grace would have a better time with the other kids then do so. Grace will be safe because everyone in the room is family and she may also be much less bored this way.

Wedding reception seating plans are given to the caterer or wedding planner when they are finalized. Feel free to hold on to these plans and change them up until a day before the wedding. Seating plans will work best if any feuding people are sat as far away from people they dislike as possible. So if you are not sure if your cousin and best friend can work out their dispute about the newest style of shoe then keep the seating plans in your possession until a day before so you can play musical chairs as much as needed.

The table seating plans for some tables is dictated by etiquette. Some etiquette guides say that you should seat the entire bridal party together but you do not have to. The rule is just keep people happy. If you wanted to sit your mom next to his Aunt Ruth but you know your mom will have a conniption fit then save yourself the hassle and just introduce the ladies over cake instead.
